Data Deletion
Last updated: 21 August 2026. There are three answers here, because the app, a connected account and the website are separate things. For the app, deletion is entirely in your hands and takes one gesture. For a connected TikTok account in the planned version 1.1, disconnecting happens inside the app. For the website, one email to us is enough.
1. Deleting your app data
Delete the app. That is the whole procedure.
The distribot app has no user account, no sign-in and no server. Everything it records — your weekly goal, your streak, your penguin and the name you gave it, your igloo, everything you unlocked and how you arranged it, and any reminder you set — is written to storage on your own iPhone and is never transmitted to us or to anybody else.
Removing the app removes all of it at the same time. You do not need to ask us, you do not need to send anything, and there is no waiting period. There is equally no request you could send us that would achieve more, because we hold no copy to delete.
This is permanent. Your streak, your penguin and everything you unlocked cannot be restored afterwards — not by you and not by us. If your iPhone backup includes app data, a copy may survive in that backup; that backup belongs to you and is controlled by your own iCloud or local backup settings.
2. Disconnecting TikTok (planned for version 1.1)
This describes a version that has not been released. Version 1.0, the version in the App Store today, connects to no outside service, so there is nothing to disconnect.
Version 1.1 is planned to let you connect your own TikTok account so that you can publish from inside the app. If you connect it, this is how you would undo that:
You would open the app, go to your profile, and choose “Disconnect TikTok”. That would be the whole procedure. There is no such button in version 1.0, because there is nothing to disconnect.
It would happen inside the app. You would not need to write to us, fill in a form, call anyone or wait for us to act. There would be no retention offer and no “are you sure you want to lose your streak” screen designed to change your mind.
What disconnecting would remove, immediately and from your device:
- the access token that lets the app talk to TikTok on your behalf,
- the account information the app kept for display — the nickname and, where TikTok provided it, the profile picture,
- any record of which of your check-offs were published through the connection.
What disconnecting would not do. It would not delete anything from TikTok. Posts you have already published are on your TikTok account and belong to it — you remove them in TikTok's own app or website, exactly as you would remove any other post. We have no access to your TikTok account and no way to delete anything there, before or after disconnecting.
Your streak stays. Disconnecting is not a reset. Your goal, your streak, your penguin and everything you unlocked are on your device and are untouched by it. You would simply go back to checking posts off by hand, as in version 1.0.
Revoking from TikTok's side as well. Once a connection exists in a released version 1.1, you would also be able to withdraw it from TikTok's side, in your TikTok account settings under the list of connected apps — that is TikTok's own control, not ours. Today there is nothing there to withdraw, because version 1.0 connects to nothing. Deleting the app would have the same effect on your device as disconnecting, but would not remove an entry on TikTok's side; that has to be done there.
Nothing about a connection reaches us at any point: the token never leaves your iPhone, and we hold no copy to delete. There is no request you could send us that would achieve more than the button does.
3. Deleting data connected to this website
Send an email to hello@distribot.de with the subject line “Data deletion request” — ideally from the address the data is associated with, that is the address you wrote to us from. You do not need an account, a form or a reference number.
If you can no longer send mail from that address, write to us from any address and tell us which address to delete. We will ask one verification question before deleting, so that nobody can delete someone else's data.
You can also reach us by post or phone using the details on our Support page and in our Imprint (Legal notice). A request in any form is valid — you do not have to use the wording above; it just helps us find it quickly.
Exercising this right costs you nothing and has no disadvantage for you. We will not ask you to reconsider, and we will not make you click through a retention offer.
4. What there is to delete
This website has no user account and no registration, so for most visitors there is simply nothing stored beyond the two items below. Everything we hold that can be linked to you:
- Email correspondence. Any message you sent to hello@distribot.de and our reply thread.
- Analytics data, if you accepted Analytics in the cookie banner — pseudonymous website-usage data such as mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, with input fields masked. It is stored by Microsoft and generally cannot be traced back to you as a person — which also means we cannot reliably pick your sessions out of it. Withdrawing your consent stops any further collection immediately: use the “Cookie Settings” button at the bottom left of every page, which also clears the stored decision from your own browser.
Not on this list, deliberately: anything from the app, and anything from a connected TikTok account. We never receive either, so neither can ever appear here.
5. How long it takes
App data: immediately, the moment you delete the app.
Website data: we confirm receipt within two business days and complete the deletion within one month, as required by Art. 12(3) GDPR. In practice it is usually done within a few days. You receive a written confirmation once it is finished, listing anything we had to keep and why (section 6).
Where a residual copy survives in a backup held by our email provider, it is blocked from any other use from the moment we act on your request and disappears with that provider's normal backup rotation.
6. What we may have to keep
In rare cases the law requires us to retain something despite your request — for example accounting records under § 147 AO and § 257 HGB once a payment has been made, or a minimal record of your objection so that we do not accidentally contact you again. Anything kept for that reason is restricted under Art. 18 GDPR, blocked from all other use, deleted as soon as the retention period expires — and we tell you exactly what it is and how long it stays.
7. If we cannot comply
If we cannot delete something you asked us to delete, we will tell you within that same month, explain the specific reason, and point you to your right to complain to a supervisory authority and to seek a judicial remedy (Art. 12(4) GDPR). We will not simply let a request go unanswered.
8. Your other rights
Access, rectification, restriction, data portability and objection are described in our Privacy Policy, together with the legal bases we rely on. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany — lda.bayern.de — or to the supervisory authority where you live or work.
